Deleting Lines in a Linux Sed File
You can use the information below to delete lines from a file on Linux.
NOTE: No operation is performed without using the e-i parameter with sed, only the output sample is shown.
sed -i ....
To delete empty lines:
sed '/^$/d' /home/umut/test.txt
To delete the specified row:
For example, let's delete the 3rd line
sed '3d' /home/teknosos/test.txt
To delete lines containing the desired letters.
For example, let's delete the lines containing virtualmin
sed '/virtualmin/d' /etc/apt/source.list
To delete lines starting with the desired letters:
For example, let's delete the lines starting with ubuntu
sed '/^ubuntu/d' /etc/apt/source.list
Delete lines ending with the desired letters
For example, let's delete the lines ending with centos
sed '/centos$/d' /etc/apt/source.list
