Enter the following command to stop the MySQL service and open it in safe mode.

service mysqld stop; mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables

Enter the following command to access the Mysql command line.

mysql


We will use the following command to update the user password.

UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD('NEW PASSWORD') WHERE User='root';

Make records valid

FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
exit;


Type the following command to close Mysql.

mysqladmin -u root -p shutdown

Finally, we will restart the service. Type the command below.

service mysqld start
